Chamber Design

Frame Construction

The kiln's structure is primarily composed of aluminum, ensuring a lightweight yet sturdy frame resistant to corrosion. All connections within the frame are secured with stainless steel fasteners, offering enhanced durability and longevity. The design includes a base that comfortably sits atop a 12-inch high stub wall, providing a solid foundation and elevation for the kiln.

Wall Assembly

The exterior walls of the kiln are constructed from aluminum panels, arranged horizontally, and joined at the structural columns to ensure a seamless appearance. These panels are affixed to the aluminum columns using stainless steel screws, ensuring a durable and robust connection. Nyle specially designed the panels to prevent water retention, featuring a snug-fit insulation installation that enhances thermal efficiency. A significant feature of the wall design is the inclusion of a thermal break, minimizing thermal bridging and improving the kiln's overall energy performance. The external facing of the kiln boasts corrugated siding, extending in full length from the roof down to the concrete base, adding to the aesthetic and functional quality of the structure.

Additional Features

  • An aluminum fan truss spans the kiln's length, with fan housings integrated directly into the truss through welding, ensuring a streamlined and efficient air circulation system.

  • Adjustable top baffles, extending from the fan truss to the outer edges of the lumber stacks, are manipulated via a system of stainless-steel cables and pulleys, allowing for precise control over airflow and distribution within the kiln.

  • The kiln is outfitted with aluminum flashing for the roof, corners, and trim, creating a cohesive look while providing essential weatherproofing

  • Entrance to the kiln is facilitated by swing doors located at each end, alongside separate inspection doors on each side for convenient access and maintenance.
